Chance Encounter is the latest quartet to form from within the Plainsmen. They had their first public sing-out at the Citizens' ANZAC service in the Transitional Cathedral on the 25th of April, 2016. It's great to have yet another quartet form from within the Plainsmen fold.
On Saturday 16th of April, 2016, the Late Shift quartet had the interesting experience of appearing live on the Plains FM show “Expanding Horizons”.
Colin and Stu were great hosts who quickly put us at our ease with their chatty style. Singing was a bit of challenge on their very “non-resonant” studio space, but it was a great experience and we hope that some of the listeners will have learned a bit more about this wonderful barbershop craft. Men Aloud were invited to perform at a special function to mark the 5th Anniversary for the Ambassador help personnel held on Friday 10th July 2015 at Christchurch International Airport. As our tenor Geoff Ridley was overseas, Alan McKinnon from the Plainsmen stepped in to assist. For that reason and in recognition of the occasion, we gave ourselves the temporary name of The Fly By Nighters. We sang three songs, Cabaret, Hello Mary Lou and Pokare Kare Ana.
